It’s the start of a New Year, and along with it comes the hope of a fresh start and a wealth of opportunities. When you own a business, New Year’s resolutions don’t just revolve around your health and wellbeing, they extend to your business goals too. If you’re dreaming of big things for your business in 2017, be inspired by these powerful business resolutions which can help take you to the next level.
I will improve my online visibility
Improving your digital presence should always be a priority, especially for small businesses. Make a promise to dedicate more time to your company website, even though it is difficult when you have a long to-do list. Does it need a refresh so it is in line with current trends? Does the gallery or blog need updating? Your website is your most important selling tool so make sure you invest in it properly.
I will learn to delegate more
Every director or business owner knows what it is like to feel like you’re drowning in admin work and tasks. You need to stop trying to do five jobs at once, and focus on growing the business. In order to do this you may need to hire more staff or train your current employees so they can handle more job duties. Delegation is key to helping you focus on the bigger task at hand – moving the business forward.
I will support a good cause
Make a resolution to help others less fortunate than you. If you’re in a position to, it’s a great idea to give back to the community and donate to charity or organise a charitable event. Try and choose a cause which is relevant to your business, for example a charity which has a personal connection to a staff member or client, or a local cause which needs funding. Consumers favour brands which give back, so this selfless act could also attract custom.
Stay focused on a few goals
There is no point trying to do everything at once – choose a few objectives and do them well. Identify parts of the business you would like to improve, and focus solely on those aspects. This is a more realistic target, and will help you achieve those goals rather than have a go at everything and not doing it properly.
